Personal Injury*

What We Do

If you have suffered an injury as a result of an accident that was someone else’s fault, you can pursue a claim for compensation. Our solicitors will help recover personal injury compensation for your physical, psychological and financial losses.

The injuries could, for example, result from:

  • a motorcycle accident
  • a car accident
  • an accident at work
  • an accident in a public place
  • an aviation accident
  • an accident on board a ferry at sea
  • a farm accident
  • an accident in a hospital.

We have dealt with claims over many years in relation to all of the above types of cases. If you have suffered an accident in Ireland, please don’t hesitate to contact our Personal Injury Solicitor Helen Coughlan for an initial chat.

Since 2004 all claims must be processed through the Irish Injuries Board. Once we have obtained the necessary medical reports, we will submit your personal injury claim to the Injuries Board on your behalf. The Injuries Board will then notify the other side of the application. The other side has the option of consenting or declining the Injuries Board assessment procedure. If they decline, we will then issue court proceedings for compensation for your injuries, loss, damage and expense.

If the other side consent to the Injuries Board assessment, then the Injuries Board will consider the medical reports given, and may obtain their own medical report. It will then assess how much they think the claim is worth, usually within 9 – 15 months. The Injuries Board assessment can be accepted or declined by either party. If it is accepted by both sides, that is the end of the matter. However, if either you or the other side does not accept the assessment, then the case can be brought to court.

“Excellent client care and communication. Extremely happy!”

M. C., Personal Injury Client

Medical Negligence

We acted as personal injury lawyers for a lady who suffered severe and permanent back injuries when a back operation in hospital was carried out negligently.
The operation was a complex back operation but unfortunately, the surgeon did not carry it out as he should have. We obtained expert evidence from a UK surgeon to this effect. The case was settled.

Aviation accident

We acted for the family of a deceased helicopter pilot both in the American and Irish courts against the manufacturer of the helicopter.
The court case was very complex and we issued proceedings both in Ireland and the USA with the assistance of lawyers in New York. Ultimately, the case was settled in favour of our client and her family.

Motorcycle accidents

We successfully sued the County Council where they had badly repaired potholes and our motorcyclist client, having been forced to take evasive action by a car, drove into a pothole and crashed. Our client suffered injuries and we settled the accident claim to his satisfaction.

We have a big interest in motorcycles and have acted in different types of motorcycle accidents.

Car accidents

We acted for a wife who was badly injured in a road traffic accident when her husband drove negligently. He was happy for his insurers to deal with the accident claim.
We acted for the occupants of a car which slid on oil left on the road by an untraced motorist. They received very debilitating injuries.
